XLPower Nimbus 550 – 550 class electric RC Helicopter

The Nimbus 550 radio control heli from XLPower delivers beautiful looks, smart design elements, and strong components. Out of the box, or with added optional parts, this 550 helicopter kit provides a low cost, and durable design that can meet the needs of the beginner rc heli pilot, or top class advanced pilot.

The heart of this rc model helicopter features a single piece 7075 aluminum bearing block and servo mounting assembly. This provides excellent rigidity and strength to the carbon fiber frame, and drive train. Small but important details like main shaft bearings which feature a double row angular contact bearings boost durability and provide long service life before they need to be replaced. 

Expanding outward to the cyclic servos, the Nimbus 550 offers two different mounts to meet the needs of any pilot – full size, and mini size. The servos are arranged in a 120 degree layout, that provide great precision for the control linkages, as well as individual servo movements. This converts to a mechanical set up that reduces control interaction as much as possible.

Each version of the Nimbus provides the ability to change between mini and full size servos with optional add on parts. A full size tail servo is needed for both models of the Nimbus, which delivers the best tail rotor performance for a high end and powerful 550 class helicopter. 

The frame of the helicopter is built with 2.5mm thick carbon fiber frames for the upper portion, and a 2mm thick carbon frame for the lower portions. This delivers unmatched frame strength, and reduces the chances of breaking in a crash.

Like the Specter 700 V2, the Nimbus 550 battery tray can be loaded from the front or rear locations, which can allow pilots the option to add the quick connect battery system. This will allow you to power up the helicopter without the need to remove the canopy from the model. 

The nimbus 550 can handle 6s, 8s, 10s, or even 12s LiPo power, allowing you to harness any amount of power you desire. Pair this with a double stacked one way bearing, and rigid motor mount, the power train will outlast anything you can throw at it.

Rotor head design is also important, and is a key focus point from XLPower. The elegant black design gives you a sleek look. By default, the Nimbus can handle up to 570mm rotor blades. Optional upgrades will further expand this, allowing you to bolt on up to 620mm blades.

The tail features a boom support less design, thanks to the large 27mm diameter tail boom, aiding in better tail performance, and fewer parts to build and break! The Nimbus 550 is truly a step forward in 550 sized electric helicopter design, and will provide pilots with incredible performance, at an affordable price point.

At a ready to fly weight on average of 6.4lbs (2.9Kg), the Nimbus 550 remote control helicopter delivers agility, perfect response, and a feeling of confidence, flight after flight.
